David is an international award-winning writer and written over 20 magazine cover stories. He's covered teams/topics as Kansas City Royals, Chiefs, KU sports, sports and race, and volunteers. He's been published in markets as USA Today and KANSAS! Magazine. He treats everyone he meets/interviews equally from Hall of Famers George Brett (cover story) and Charles Barkley to former homeless people and rape and cancer survivors. David was raised on KU hoops by his beloved father; the 1974 Final Four team was the first squad to capture his heart. He'll never forget his childhood heroes like Rick Suttle, Norm Cook, Dale Greenlee, John "The Franchise" Douglas and Tony Guy. He's an 1988 KU honors graduate and wrote a groundbreaking 82-page honors thesis on Racial Participation and Integration in KU Basketball: 1952-75. Nolen Ellison, a former KU hoops star who was named in 1988 as one of the top 12 Black Educators in the 20th century, called David his "hero" who far exceeded what any undergraduate would do with his thesis. David is a KU basketball historian who is a leader and expert with the sociological concept of the intersection of race and KU basketball history.
